Exhibition curator and project producer : Heather Nicol

Heather is a Toronto based artist and independent curator. She creates large-scale installations which often include sound and light, and smaller scale hybrid audio-sculptures. Her practice includes accessing vacant or underutilized property for short-term curatorial interventions. This project explores her interest in education. She has taught art in elementary, high school and post secondary schools (currently at Centennial College). She has worked with elementary school teachers as a staff developer, and in museum education at MoMA and the Metropolitan Museum, in New York. Her last Toronto curatorial project was makingROOM, held in a 30,000 square foot vacant warehouse, featuring over 60 artists and performers. Her most recent installation was Imminent Departure, in Union Station, Nuit Blanche, 2009, curated by Jim Drobnick and Jennifer Fisher.
