Stan Krzyzanowski

Stan Krzyzanowski is a multimedia artist and teacher living in Toronto. His teaching and research frequently investigates trees, growth and the changeable nature of wood. He has a strong interest in experienced-based learning and process-based work, often involving photographic and video time studies. He regularly documents events considered ordinary and mundane with meticulous care and attention to detail. During the past decade his work has branched into electronics and online projects. His pinecone oscillator, made in response to his discovery that cones open and close with changes of moisture, serves as a watching station and time-lapse recording device. His “Interval” website is a massive online archive of video-work generated from his observations and is one of the most comprehensive compilations of time-lapse, stop-motion, interval-based photography authored by a single individual available on the web. Stan is an Associate Professor at the Ontario College of Art & Design and is cross appointed in the faculties of Art and Design. He is a graduate of OCA (’77) with a MEd from Brock University. He has taught at OCAD since 1982.
