Lyn Carter

Lyn Carter is an artist based near Grand Valley, Ontario. She has exhibited across Canada, in the U.S.A., Australia, Britain, Spain, Mexico and China. In 2008 Carter was invited to create a new work for the 3rd Guangzhou Triennial in China. The resulting work, Columna, consisted of four column-like structures held under tension between the floor and ceiling of the 22 foot high gallery space of the Guangdong Museum of Art. In 2007 her three-part sculpture, Courting Entasis, was acquired by the Albright-Knox Art Gallery for their permanent collection. Her work is also represented in the collections of: Cambridge Galleries in Cambridge, Ontario, the AstraZeneca Collection in Mississauga, Ontario, Dalhousie Art Gallery in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Gallerie Expression, Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec. In the Fall of 2010 her work will be shown at the Sheldon Museum of Art in Lincoln, Nebraska in the exhibition New Material World: Rethreading Technology.

Lyn Carter currently teaches in the Art & Art History Program at Sheridan College and at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto. Carter is represented by Peak Gallery in Toronto, Canada (see www.peakgallery.com)
