Lois Andison is a sculptor / installation artist who primarily works in the field of kinetic art. Her practice has evolved to include time-based media, which she uses to document and interpret movement. A recent example of this is time and again, a yearlong timelapse shot through a window out into an urban backyard, and the floor’s the limit, a site-specific three-channel video presenting rollerskaters mapping the Olga Korper Gallery space through their movement.
Andison is currently represented by the Olga Korper Gallery, Toronto, and Galerie Art Mûr, Montreal. Her first solo exhibition, moving still, at the Olga Korper Gallery in October 2009 is reviewed in the spring issue of Canadian Art. Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally including such venues in Washington, Lethbridge, Montreal, New York, and Mexico City. Andison lives in Toronto and is currently a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor at the University of Waterloo where she teaches courses in electronic imaging and sculpture. She also co-teaches an art/tech course which includes collaborations between fine art and engineering students.
