Lewis Nicholson & Gwen McGregor

Apart from their individual practices in art and design Lewis Nicholson and Gwen MacGregor have collaborated on numerous art projects over the past 20 years, covering a wide range of conceptual focusses, strategies and materials: A glow-in-the-dark typographic installation about imperfect memory; durational video works that document the everyday (7pm, 7pmII) and not so everyday (The long and the short); photographs of items modified by mice (Mieces Pieces); books about curse-lifting and disappearing things; a 24-hour audio clock (New Time); the spoils gathered from mudlarking; a kinetic/sound sculpture powered by minnows; an intervention involving hundreds of balloons in Mexico; the excavation of debris between floorboards in a disused synagogue in Prague… Lewis and MacGregor have both taught in various capacities, since 2003 Lewis has been a full-time Associate Professor, in the faculty of design, at the Ontario College of Art and Design.
