As a founding member of Winnipeg-based Primus Theatre from 1989 to 1997, Ker Wells trained, performed and taught across Canada and in the U.S. and Europe. In 1998 he co-founded Number Eleven Theatre, with whom he created Icaria, The Prague Visitor, and The Curious History of Peter Schlemihl. Between 2004 and 2008 he toured in North America and to Europe with the original performance The Confessions of Punch and Judy. In 2007 Wells premiered Living Tall, a solo show written by Mike Geither, which has since toured widely in Canada and the U.S. A new solo performance, entitled Swimmer (68) will premiere in late 2010. Exilio: My Life as Bolaño, a collaboration with Mexican and U.S. artists will be presented in Guadalajara, NYC, and Toronto in 2011. He is a returning guest faculty member at the National Theatre School of Canada, and the Humber College School of Performing Arts, and The Contemporary Opera Lab at the University of Manitoba. His most recent work created with students was Tir Na Nog; A Visitor’s Tale, created with the graduating class of Humber College School of Performing Arts, and presented at the Theatre Centre in April.
