Fiona Smyth is a Toronto based visual artist. Since finishing Central Tech’s high school art program in 1982 and graduating from OCAD in 1986, she has covered Toronto and elsewhere with her distinctive female charged graphics. Her art practice includes painting, murals, animation, comics and illustration.
Over the past twenty-four years Fiona’s extensive exhibition history has included group shows at the Art Gallery of York University, the Art Gallery of Mississauga, and the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art as well as abroad in Taiwan, Korea, and Venice. Her most recent solo show The Parkdale Gyre was held at Index G here in Toronto.
Fiona has been teaching as a sessional instructor at OCAD since fall 2006. She has taught Illustration 1 and 4, Sequential Narrative 1, Creative Process and Research, and Drawing. She has also taught The Graphic Novel through OCAD’s Continuing Studies program.
Fiona is currently producing a new body of artwork funded by the Toronto Arts Council and a science fiction graphic novel for teens, partially funded by the Ontario Arts Council.
