My art practice explores the connections between ritual actions, technology and environmental issues resulting in photographic works and cross-cultural hybrid installations that invite public participation. My work weaves together cultures, historical periods, technologies, and environmental issues, in the hope of mirroring the human processes of change, hope, healing and mortality. As a multi media artist, activist, and art educator of Greek heritage, it has been integral part of my creative work to facilitate artistic exchanges, art education residencies, public art projects and conversations promoting mutual understanding of the interstices between diverse groups. Artists Space’s arts education program, (which I founded ) has broadened Artists Space’s commitment to contemporary art and artists, through initiating residencies with practicing contemporary artists in the NYC educational community. Our mission is to encourage students to develop an artistic voice and creativity by providing them with the skills to communicate, document, and exhibit their ideas and talents.
